There truly is something for everyone in this category which you can wear proudly and help support the race to find the cure.

When you wear an awareness bracelet, you are not only telling the world that you support the necessary research to help get rid of the disease - but you are also letting breast cancer patients and survivors know that you're with them. Even if all you can afford is a gel bracelet, your support is not just monetary - it might make all the difference in the world to a person fighting for her/his life.

If you can afford a unique and beautiful bracelet - that's great too. More money will be donated but equally important, people will probably take notice of it. I wore my beautiful "Hershey Kiss" bracelet yesterday and complete strangers asked me where I got it and how they wanted something to show their support as well. One lady was looking for a solid golf and diamond charm to show her support and to remember her mother.

Think about how far we have all come in the centuries since this disease has been around. I recently watched the HBO Series, "John Adams" in which his daughter, Nabby, had it. They showed on the television what they had to do to b.c. patients in the 1700s/early 1800s. It was horrible. In the end, "Nabby" died as the cancer had spread through her body.

According to Marcia Frelick who reports in the Chicago Tribune,

"Successes with drugs such as Tamoxifen and Herceptin have led to discoveries of an overwhelming selection of targeted therapies, which interfere with the pathways that help cancer cells divide and spread."

Thank God we have made strides in finding a cure for the disease through early detection, awareness, mammograms, and BSE. Although we still have far to go, we have made inroads. Millions of people have been saved - especially from awareness - and the more each of us does, the closer we'll be to the cure.
