Wilson Hope - Shop For the Cure Part I
Shop For The Cure Part I - Wilson Hope
Wilson became a leader in the "Race For The Cure" by introducing its "Wilson Hope" line in 1998. By promoting a new category of sports equipment and donating the proceeds to the BCRF, many other manufacturers have climbed on board. Although we have a long way to go before irradicating the disease from the earth, we are making progress and each of us can help - every single day - by purchasing goods and services produced by companies who have followed Wilson's lead.
The Bad News:
As we get older unfortunately we start to face some of the more scary illnesses both in ourselves, our friends and family. One of the concerns that women face as they get older is the risk of breast cancer. In 2009 it is estimated that 40,170 women in the US will die of breast cancer (American Cancer Society). It is not hard to find someone within our families, friends or social circle that has been affected by this terrible disease.
"Aside from non-melanoma skin cancer, breast cancer is the most common form of cancer in women. Breast cancer is the number one cause of cancer death in Hispanic women. It is the second most common cause of cancer death in white, black, Asian/Pacific Islander, and American Indian/Alaska Native women."

The Good News:
With the huge efforts made by the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) and numerous Corporate Sponsors, research into the causes and cures are finally making an impact on the numbers of women affected by this disease. Over the last two years in the US the numbers of women dying of breast cancer have fallen.
However, the battle is not won and until it again becomes a rarity to hear of another woman affected by this disease the BCRF desperately needs help in raising funds for more research.
The good news is that with a combination of 6.57 million women golfers (US), golf equipment manufacturers have come on board and are supporting the BCRF with dedicated product lines and donating proceeds from their sales. In addition, there are many many non-golf manufacturers who are joining in on the fight.
In 1998, Wilson became an offical partner of BCRF wherein they donated a portion of the proceeds of its sales - from all women's sporting goods - to BCRF. In 2004 they became the Official Sporting Goods Equipment Sponsor of the BCRF. Annual donations from them now come from ALL Wilson products!
Below is just a sampling of what Wilson has to offer - and where the items were specifically made for their "Hope for the Cure" line.
